Children aged 6-10 show learning deficits compared to pre-pandemic levels

Children aged 6-10 are more behind in school than before the pandemic. In 2024, 90.7% of these children were in the correct grade, a slight decrease from 2023 and significantly lower than the 95.7% in 2019. This lag is attributed to pandemic-related delays in preschool entry. The IBGE report also highlights that while older children (11-14) are now above pre-pandemic grade levels, they still fall short of national education goals. Parental choice is cited as a primary reason for children not attending school.
