Childcare worker assaulted autistic child in Queensland

Childcare worker Ronelle Peralta received a suspended prison sentence for assaulting a non-verbal autistic child at an AEIOU centre in south-east Queensland. Peralta used the leg of another child he was holding to strike the victim multiple times. CCTV footage confirmed the assault, leading to Peralta's immediate dismissal and a guilty plea to common assault. The incident occurred earlier this year, and the child's father expressed distress over the event and the court's decision. Peralta no longer works for AEIOU, which is cooperating with authorities.
