Chicago Symphony flutist joins Berlin Philharmonic for year
Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson, the principal flute of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, is taking a one-year leave to join the Berlin Philharmonic. His departure was confirmed by the CSO on Thursday. Höskuldsson has been with the CSO since 2016 and has performed solo with the orchestra multiple times. His new role at the Berlin Philharmonic is highly sought after in the music world. The CSO will continue to hold Höskuldsson's position while he is in Berlin. His absence leaves the CSO flute section without a leader, as the assistant principal position is also vacant.
