Chennai upgrades Marina Beach for eco-certification

Chennai's Marina Beach is undergoing an eco-friendly makeover, including sustainable amenities, as part of a bid for Blue Flag certification. The Greater Chennai Corporation is installing bamboo sunshades and eco-friendly furniture to meet the stringent 33 criteria required for the globally recognized Blue Flag eco-label. This certification promotes sustainable coastal development. The project is part of the Tamil Nadu-Sustainably Harnessing Ocean Resources and Blue Economy initiative, with Marina Beach being one of five in Tamil Nadu proposed for the certification.
