Heavy rainfall in Chennai is causing water bodies to fill rapidly, leading to increased water discharge from Chembarambakkam Lake and a flood warning for nearby residents. The discharge from Chembarambakkam Lake has been increased as a precautionary measure due to continuous inflow. The lake currently holds 3146 million cubic feet of water, with its total capacity being 3645 million cubic feet. Other key reservoirs supplying water to Chennai, including Poondi, Red Hills, and Sholavaram, also show significant water levels, with Kandaleru-Poondi Canal also reporting substantial storage.
