Chega leader slams PS for backing 2027 budget unseen

noticiasaominuto.com (Portuguese) —

Chega leader André Ventura accused the Socialist Party (PS) of "irresponsibility" for committing to pass the 2027 State Budget without first seeing the document. He called the move amateurish and harmful to Portugal. Ventura argued the PS's early pledge removes any government incentive to negotiate improvements, such as Chega's proposed fuel VAT reduction. He stated the PS did a disservice to the country by providing the government with unconditional support. Despite the budget's assured passage, Ventura confirmed Chega will still present its parliamentary proposals on health, education, housing, and immigration. He made the remarks in Aveiro at a party event on economics and state reform.
