Check passport issue date and expiry for EU travel

British travellers risk being denied entry to the EU if their passport was issued more than 10 years ago. This rule applies even if the passport has remaining validity, as the EU requires passports to be issued less than 10 years before the travel date. Additionally, many EU countries require at least three months of passport validity beyond the intended departure date from the EU.
