CFTC restructures enforcement division to focus on fraud prevention

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is reorganizing its Division of Enforcement. The agency will replace its previous task forces with two new units focused on complex fraud and retail fraud. Acting Chairman Caroline Pham stated the changes aim to end "regulation by enforcement." The new structure is designed to better allocate resources to combat fraud and assist victims. Paul Hayeck and Charles Marvine will lead the new task forces as acting chiefs. Pham became acting chair on January 20, following the inauguration of President Donald Trump.
