Cervical cancer vaccines prevent over one million deaths in lower-income countries

Over 1 million cervical cancer deaths have been prevented, with 86 million girls protected by the HPV vaccine. This milestone was achieved ahead of schedule through a Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and lower-income country initiative to expand vaccine access. The HPV vaccine will be available in countries accounting for 89% of global cervical cancer cases by the end of 2025.
