Cervia modernizes local police with mobile office and body cameras

The Italian municipality of Cervia has won regional funding for a project to modernize its local police force, including a mobile community office and body cameras for officers. The total investment is 68,000 euros, with 52,000 euros coming from regional resources and 16,000 euros from the municipal budget. The project, named 'Polizia locale prossima', was selected from 84 applications in the Emilia-Romagna region's 2026 call, with only 36 proposals receiving funding. Key elements include a specially equipped mobile vehicle for direct citizen engagement, a portable kit for audiovisual recording of official acts, and an encrypted digital platform for evidence storage. The initiative also aims to strengthen community policing through neighborhood watch networks and civic assistants, while providing officers with body cameras and new operational procedures. The program includes advanced training for personnel, with Mayor Mirko Boschetti emphasizing the goal of a more modern, digital, and participatory security model.
