Cebu City fires kill three, causing P12 million loss

In the first two months of 2025, Cebu City experienced 53 fires, resulting in three deaths and P12.14 million in property damage. This is a significant decrease from 71 fires and five deaths during the same period in 2024, which caused P39.22 million in losses. January saw 30 fires with P6.18 million in damages and two fatalities, while February had 23 fires causing P5.96 million in losses and one death. Electrical issues were identified as the main cause of these fires. As March marks Fire Prevention Month, the Cebu City Fire Station aims to further reduce fire incidents. However, a large fire on March 2 in Mambaling destroyed 100 homes, displacing 500 people and causing P1.5 million in damage.
