CBP pilot dies in helicopter crash near San Diego during border mission

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection pilot died in a helicopter crash near San Diego on Monday. The Eurocopter AS35 went down around 10:15 a.m. in a private field during a border security mission. The pilot, the only person on board, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the incident. This crash marks the second helicopter accident in San Diego County this year. In February, a crash resulted in the deaths of five U.S. Marines.
