Carlos Acosta's eclectic dance mixes classics, Cuba and the Stones at Royal Opera House

Carlos Acosta, 53, returns to the Royal Opera House in "Myths and Modern Masters," an eclectic mixed bill featuring dancers from his Birmingham Royal Ballet and Acosta Danza companies. The programme spans Limón’s Othello-derived "Moor’s Pavane," Acosta’s "Nutcracker in Havana" with his daughter, and Christopher Bruce’s Rolling Stones-set "Rooster." Critics note his physical prowess has faded but presence and depth remain. The Royal Opera House run lasts until 9 August. The bill also includes a Cuban duet and Vaganova’s Diana and Actaeon pas de deux, danced by younger virtuosos.
