Care Earth Trust hosts first all-women nature walk to promote urban biodiversity

Care Earth Trust organized its first all-women nature walk in the city on Saturday, as part of its sixth annual Margazhi Thiruvizha. The event aimed to promote urban biodiversity awareness during the bird migratory season. The nature walk attracted 19 women participants at Nanmangalam reserve forest, where they observed 25 bird species and 13 butterfly species. This year, Care Earth Trust has conducted 12 nature walks in various locations since mid-December, engaging nearly 236 participants. The organization focuses on highlighting the importance of urban habitats for biodiversity. They have recorded 63 bird species at Okkiam Maduvu and 449 plant species in Nanmangalam through their surveys.
