Canon launches affordable 3D lens for VR content in November

theverge.com

Canon has announced the RF-S7.8mm F4 STM Dual lens, a budget-friendly option for 3D VR content. It will be available in November 2024 for $449.99, significantly cheaper than Canon's existing dual-fisheye lenses, which start at $1,099. The new lens is designed for use with the Canon EOS R7 camera and features a limited field of view of 63 degrees. This is much narrower than the 180-degree capability of Canon's higher-end 3D lenses. The RF-S7.8mm lens includes autofocus and manual focus controls. Its compact design positions the front lenses just 11.8mm apart, enhancing the 3D effect for close subjects, while the effect diminishes for distant objects.
