Canadian pension fund La Caisse buys 24% stake in Brookfield-backed Altius for ₹12,100 crore
Canadian pension fund La Caisse has acquired a 24% stake in Brookfield-backed Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust for approximately ₹12,100 crore, betting on India's growing mobile connectivity and 5G infrastructure demand. The investment of CAD 1.76 billion targets Altius, which operates over 258,000 telecom towers across India. Brookfield will remain the largest investor, with other shareholders including Singapore's GIC and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation. India is the world's second-largest telecommunications market, with rising mobile data use and 5G rollout driving infrastructure needs. La Caisse reported net assets of CAD 552 billion as of June 30, 2026, while Brookfield manages over $1 trillion globally.
