Cambridge professor resigns and cancels book tour over plagiarism accusations

Arday, who became Cambridge’s youngest Black professor in 2023, stepped down after the university opened an inquiry into his academic qualifications and honorary appointments. It followed reports of plagiarised PhD material and questions about charity claims. His memoir is due for release on Aug 27, and the publisher faces calls to delay it. Arday said scrutiny had taken a “profound toll”.
