Call the Midwife prequel will explore young Sister Julienne, Sister Evangelina, and Sister Monica Joan in the East End during World War II

Call the Midwife creator Heidi Thomas confirmed a prequel series will focus on the origin stories of Sister Julienne, Sister Evangelina, and Sister Monica Joan. The prequel, set during World War II, will explore the characters as young women adapting to life and work in the East End, facing significant challenges. The BBC also has a spin-off film in development, set abroad in 1972, featuring existing series characters.
