California researchers develop blood test to detect over 50 cancer types

A new blood test, Galleri, shows promise in detecting over 50 types of cancer, potentially before symptoms appear. The study found the test detected a cancer signal in 61.6% of participants confirmed to have the disease, with a low false positive rate of 0.4%. It also identified the cancer's origin in 92% of cases. This experimental test, developed by GRAIL, Inc., aims to complement existing screenings and could help detect cancers that current methods miss, particularly those without standard screening options.
