Calcutta High Court cancels husband's interim maintenance payment to wife
The Calcutta High Court has canceled a previous order requiring a husband to pay his wife ₹80,000 per month in interim maintenance. The court noted that the wife had already received ₹32 lakhs from the husband and is employed. Justice Suvra Ghosh stated that the wife’s financial situation, including her own income, means she does not need additional support. The court found that the earlier ruling was not necessary given the substantial amount already paid to her. The decision overturns a Family Court ruling from August 2024, which had granted the wife interim maintenance. The court also removed the cost imposed on the husband.
