Burglar jailed after ransacking home while resident gardened outside

A prolific burglar, Miles Grant Simon, raided a home while the resident was gardening outside, leading to his jailing for 19 months. The incident occurred during the morning with the occupant present. Simon also stole an iPhone from a postal cart on February 2, using the victim's bank cards for a $682.16 shopping spree. Judge Stephen Clark noted the victim was emotionally distressed, watching his money disappear. Despite Simon's remorse letter and requests for credits, the judge cited his "abysmal" offending history and high reoffending risk. He declined home detention but allowed potential release to the Grace Foundation.
