Buffalo Bills to debut heated football field in new stadium set for 2026
The Buffalo Bills will open a new $2.1 billion stadium in 2026, featuring a heated football field. This will be the first heated natural-turf field in an outdoor stadium in a cold-weather NFL city, enhancing player safety and field conditions. Current NFL stadiums like Green Bay's Lambeau Field and Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium already use advanced heating systems. These systems utilize water and glycol mixtures to keep the turf playable, even in extreme cold, with temperatures maintained around 38 to 50 degrees. The Bills' stadium will also include a heated canopy to manage snow and weather conditions. Despite these advancements, the stadium will remain outdoors, preserving the home-field advantage in Buffalo's harsh winter climate.
