Brits' crisp portions contribute to rising obesity rates
A nutritionist has warned that many Brits are eating crisps incorrectly, leading to weight gain. The advice highlights that larger "grab bags" of crisps can contain excessive salt and fat, increasing health risks. The larger bags, typically 45g, can have a fifth of the daily fat intake and over 200 calories. In contrast, smaller 25g bags contain less fat and salt, making them a healthier option. A recent study found that people often serve themselves more than the recommended portion size, averaging 51g. This overestimation contributes to rising obesity rates in the UK, with 64% of adults now overweight or obese.
