British special forces face prosecution over alleged war crimes in Syria
Nine British special forces soldiers are facing prosecution for alleged war crimes in Syria, with another soldier under investigation for actions in Afghanistan. The Ministry of Defence confirmed these cases after an internal review prompted the release of previously withheld information. The Service Prosecuting Authority is examining at least three incidents involving the soldiers. Reports indicate that one incident involved the shooting of a suspected terrorist, who was believed to be about to carry out a suicide attack. The Ministry of Defence initially resisted disclosing this information, citing operational concerns. However, an internal review concluded there was no valid reason to keep the details secret, leading to the current disclosures.
