Britain's oldest farming couple, Jean and Steve Green, have decided to remain on their 25-acre Stoneybrough Farm in Thirsk after considering a lucrative land sale. The couple, aged 73 and 96, rejected the offer during a repeat episode of The Yorkshire Vet spin-off aired on Tuesday. An estate agent valued their land as potentially suitable for 200 houses, which would have earned a seven-figure sum. However, Jean stated, "Money won't buy health and happiness," and confirmed they will stay, despite the financial pressure from rising feed costs. The Greens have farmed the land for 79 years, with the couple working there since their marriage over 40 years ago. Their decision was revealed after a helicopter ride and family activities featured in the episode, which is available to stream on Channel 5.
