At least nine people have died after a bridge collapsed in northern Brazil, linking the states of Maranhao and Tocantins. Four trucks, two cars, and two motorcycles fell into the Tocantins River when a section of the bridge crumbled. The navy reported finding the body of a woman six kilometers from the bridge, while eight others are still missing. The Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira Bridge, built in the 1960s, spans 533 meters. The collapse occurred on December 24, and the cause is currently unknown. The bridge connects the cities of Estreito and Aguiarnopolis, located about 1,300 kilometers north of Brasilia.
