Brazil's education minister links environmental policy to education

Education Minister Camilo Santana believes environmental policies are impossible without education, emphasizing the need for "green education" in Brazil. Santana stated that schools need adaptation for Brazil's extreme climate events and expressed regret over the absence of children at the COP-30 climate conference, seeing them as symbols of hope. He highlighted that nearly 1,500 municipalities interrupted classes in 2024 due to extreme weather, affecting over 10,000 schools, with only 10% of schools having air conditioning.
