Over 48 million Brazilians and 4.6 million companies can claim forgotten money from financial institutions. The total amount available to be claimed is R$ 10.7 billion, with R$ 8 billion for individuals and R$ 2.7 billion for businesses. New funds are added monthly. The system, SVR, was created by the Central Bank to return unclaimed funds, such as from closed accounts or undue fees.
