Brazilian found dead in Turkey before deportation; family disputes overdose

Brazilian businessman Lucas Nascimento de Medeiros, 33, was found dead in Turkey before his scheduled deportation, with his family contesting the reported cause of death and seeking to repatriate his body. Medeiros, from Natal, was detained after a religious dispute and was awaiting deportation when he died in a hotel room. His family, who filed a police report in São Paulo, disputes the overdose hypothesis and says they received conflicting information about where his body was found. The Brazilian consulate in Istanbul is assisting the family, who are now trying to raise approximately R$70,000 to transport the body back to Brazil. They plan to hire a private expert to investigate the circumstances of his death.
