Boston showcases diverse holiday performances including Nutcracker and Christmas Carol

Boston is hosting a variety of holiday performances this season, including multiple versions of "The Nutcracker" and "A Christmas Carol." The Boston Ballet's "Nutcracker" runs from Nov. 29 to Dec. 29, while other options include the Grand Kyiv Ballet and José Mateo Ballet Theatre. For a unique twist, audiences can enjoy "Anthony Williams’ Urban Nutcracker" featuring diverse dance styles or the campy "The Slutcracker." "A Christmas Carol" will be performed at the North Shore Music Theatre and the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, among others. Additional holiday shows include "Black Nativity," celebrating Langston Hughes' poetry, and "The Selkie Girl and the Seal Woman," which highlights Celtic and Cabo Verdean traditions. Front Porch Arts Collective will also present staged readings of classic Black sitcom holiday episodes.
