Bolt CEO mandates return to office three days a week to boost employee connection
Bolt, the Estonian ride-hailing company, is requiring employees to return to the office three days a week. CEO Markus Villig criticized remote work habits, particularly staff working from vacation spots like Bali, calling it a "disgrace." Villig's new policy partially reverses the company's flexible work arrangements. He stated that less than half of employees worked in the office at least two days a week, leading to feelings of disconnection and high attrition rates. While the new hybrid model allows some flexibility, employees must live within commuting distance to a Bolt office. Villig emphasized the need for in-person work to foster better communication and company culture.
