Boeing's 717 Business Express faces challenges as Qantas Link ends commercial flights
Boeing introduced the 717 Business Express in May 2003 as a corporate version of its 717-200 airliner, aiming to provide companies with a reliable and efficient travel option. The aircraft featured a spacious interior designed for business needs, including workspaces and broadband internet. Despite its innovative design, the 717 Business Express struggled to gain market traction and was discontinued in 2006, with no orders placed. It faced stiff competition from established corporate jets like the Boeing Business Jet, which already catered to high-end clients. Recently, Qantas Link completed its last commercial flights with the Boeing 717, marking the end of its operational era outside the U.S. The aircraft's legacy continues as existing models can be converted for private use, reflecting ongoing interest in tailored corporate travel solutions.
