Boeing contracts Elbit Systems for C-17 HUD upgrades to enhance fleet capabilities

Boeing has contracted Elbit Systems to upgrade the Heads-Up Display (HUD) systems for its C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. This upgrade is part of ongoing efforts to modernize the aging fleet, which has been in service since 1995. The C-17 production line closed in 2015, and parts have become increasingly difficult to source. The new HUDs will enhance capabilities, including threat warnings and improved reliability, addressing challenges from obsolete components. The recent contract, valued at $51.3 million, includes retrofitting kits and spare parts for C-17s operated by the U.S. and allied nations. Work is expected to be completed by February 2028.
