Bodies of man and woman in their 60s found in Tamagawa River in Chikushino

Two bodies, a man and a woman believed to be in their 60s, were found in the Tamagawa River in Chikushino City, Fukuoka Prefecture, early Thursday morning. Both were confirmed dead, with the woman pronounced dead at a hospital after being rescued. Police received an emergency call around 2:30 a.m. from a nearby resident who heard a man's voice calling for help and suspected someone had fallen into the river. Responders found the woman floating in the water, and later discovered the man about 10 meters away just before 4 a.m. Both victims were found fully clothed, and police are investigating the incident from both criminal and accidental perspectives while working to confirm their identities. The discovery occurred near Chikushi Station in the city.
