Blumhouse's Sci-Fi Thriller SOULM8TE Becomes a Hulu Streaming Hit

Blumhouse's R-rated sci-fi thriller SOULM8TE has become a streaming hit on Hulu, ranking third among the platform's top movies since its October 1 debut. The film, a spinoff of the 2023 M3GAN franchise, follows a man whose AI android becomes deadly after he uses it to cope with his wife's death. It initially released on VOD in August and holds a 39% Rotten Tomatoes critic score. Despite its streaming success, SOULM8TE likely ends the M3GAN franchise. The sequel M3GAN 2.0 flopped with $39 million worldwide, leading to SOULM8TE's shift from theatrical release to streaming.
