Blues prospect Otto Stenberg joins AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds after World Juniors success
St. Louis Blues prospect Otto Stenberg is moving from the Malmo Redhawks in Sweden to the Springfield Thunderbirds in the AHL. The 19-year-old forward had limited playing time in Sweden, scoring three goals in 25 games this season. Stenberg recently performed well at the 2025 World Juniors, scoring three goals in seven games. Blues general manager Doug Armstrong noted the challenges young players face in professional leagues, but the team is now providing Stenberg with a new opportunity in North America. The Blues had a record nine prospects at the World Juniors, with five winning medals. Armstrong praised the team's amateur and development staff for their efforts in building a strong prospect pool, which includes Stenberg and other promising players.
