Bluebird K7 hydroplane engines undergo refurbishment for return to water

bbc.com

The engines of the historic hydroplane Bluebird K7 are being refurbished to prepare for its return to Coniston Water. The two Orpheus engines are undergoing work in Essex before installation on the vessel. Bluebird K7, which set seven world water speed records from 1955 to 1967, was recovered in 2001 and is currently being restored. The refurbishment marks the beginning of a plan to have the hydroplane operational by 2026. One engine will be installed on the boat, while the other will serve as a backup. The refurbishment is led by Peter Walker, who has extensive experience with Orpheus engines.
