Blue Note opens first London jazz club in Covent Garden

Blue Note, the world-famous New York jazz club, will open its first UK venue in London next month, with Grammy-winning pianist Robert Glasper headlining the opening. Located in the basement of St Martins Lane hotel, Covent Garden, it will have a 250-capacity main room and a 100-capacity B-Side room for emerging British talent. Tickets for initial shows go on sale August 14. Founded in Greenwich Village in 1981, Blue Note has venues in the US, Japan, China, Brazil and Italy. The opening coincides with John Coltrane’s centenary; performers include Erykah Badu, Jamie Cullum, and Nubya Garcia.
