Bloomberg announces 2025 target weights for commodity index with Brent Crude leading the way
Bloomberg has announced the target weights for the Bloomberg Commodity Index (BCOM) for 2025, effective during the January Roll Period. There will be no new commodities added or removed from the index this year. Brent Crude Oil will see the largest weight increase, rising to 8.03%, making it the highest weighted component in the Energy group for the first time since 2012. Other agricultural commodities like Grains, Softs, and Livestock will also see weight increases. In contrast, Industrial Metals will have the lowest weight since BCOM's inception, dropping to 15.1%. Gold's weight will decline for the third consecutive year, contributing to a decrease in the Precious Metals group to 18.8%.
