Blanca Palacio: From Ciudad Bolívar to Disney Dream Fulfilled

Blanca Palacio, a 23-year-old actress from Ciudad Bolívar, Bogotá, has achieved her childhood dream of starring in a Disney production, currently playing Salomé in "Soy Luna" and Kelly in "María, la Caprichosa." Palacio began her artistic journey through dance and musical theater, landing her first major role in Disney's "Champeta, el ritmo de la Tierra" in 2021. She faced significant adversity during her university studies, including accusations from a professor that she used sexual favors to secure her Disney opportunity, which led her to consider abandoning her career. Despite the challenges, including time away from family while filming in Argentina, Palacio persevered. She hopes to serve as a representation for young Afro-Colombian girls, noting she lacked such role models in Disney during her own childhood, with Zendaya being her only icon.
