BJP dominates Chakma council elections, winning 64 councils
The BJP won a significant victory in the village council elections within the Chakma Autonomous District Council, securing 64 out of 88 councils. They achieved 366 seats overall, dominating the election results. The Zoram People's Movement came in second, winning 12 councils with 81 seats. The Mizo National Front secured 8 councils with 45 seats, while the Congress party did not win any councils, gaining only two seats. Independents won in two councils, taking 22 seats. The election saw a high turnout of 86.97%. There was a minor issue with ballot papers in one village, but the polling proceeded without major incidents.
