Biotech firm buys former Anheuser-Busch brewery in Merrimack, N.H
United Therapeutics, a biotechnology company focused on organ transplantation, has purchased the former Anheuser-Busch brewery in Merrimack, New Hampshire, for $47.5 million, according to deed records. The nearly 700,000-square-foot facility, which once produced Budweiser and Bud Light, was bought on Monday. United Therapeutics already operates an 80,000-square-foot research facility in Manchester, where it manufactures 3D-printed organ scaffolds, and employs over 80 scientists in the state. Anheuser-Busch announced in December it would close the plant, which sits on nearly 300 acres off Daniel Webster Highway. The company described the purchase as a substantial expansion of its physical capacity in New Hampshire but did not disclose specific plans for the property.
