Billboard names The Cure's 1987 song one of the best rock love songs ever

The 1987 song "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure has been named one of the best rock love songs of all time by Billboard, ranking fourth on the list nearly four decades after its release. The track, the third single from the album "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me," was written by frontman Robert Smith in France, inspired by his feelings for his then-girlfriend and future wife, Mary Poole. It initially reached only 40th on the US Billboard Hot 100 and 29th in the UK, but its popularity grew over time. The list's top three spots went to "Something" by The Beatles, "Maps" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and "Heroes" by David Bowie. Smith told Rolling Stone in 2019 he believed he could never write a better song, and The Cure later released another famous romantic hit, "Friday I'm in Love," in 1992.
