Bill McCartney, the former head coach of the University of Colorado football team, has died at the age of 84. He passed away after battling dementia, as confirmed by his family. McCartney is best known for leading Colorado to its only national championship in 1990. He holds the record as the winningest coach in the school's history, with a record of 93 wins, 55 losses, and 5 ties. During his coaching career from 1982 to 1994, McCartney's teams achieved significant success, including three Big Eight titles and ten consecutive winning seasons. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
