Biden and first lady to unveil AIDS Memorial Quilt for World AIDS Day at White House
President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden will unveil the AIDS Memorial Quilt on the White House South Lawn this Sunday for World AIDS Day. They will honor survivors, families, and advocates during the event. A red ribbon will also be displayed on the South Portico to remember those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses and recognize over 40 million people living with HIV globally. This ribbon has been an annual tradition since 2007. The Biden administration emphasizes ending the HIV epidemic as a priority, with a National HIV/AIDS Strategy established in 2021. A progress report on this strategy will be released next week.
