BHA bans horse owner Melvyn Power from all racing premises

mirror.co.uk —

A racehorse owner, Melvyn Power, has been permanently banned from all British Horseracing Authority (BHA) premises following a safeguarding hearing. The indefinite exclusion order covers racecourses, training yards, and Point-to-Point events. The BHA disciplinary panel, chaired by Nicola Shannon KC, ruled in September that Power breached Paragraph 4 of the Safeguarding Rules. The panel deemed the exclusion "reasonable and proportionate" after reviewing confidential and restricted safeguarding material. Power owned the filly Red Danielle, trained by Roger Varian, which won at Yarmouth in 2023 and sold for £315,000. He was informed in May of the BHA's intention to seek risk management measures.
