deccanherald.com —

Bengaluru's water board has directed officials to expedite nine World Bank-funded sewage treatment plants with a combined capacity of 148 million litres per day, aiming to address the city's anticipated summer crisis in 2027. BWSSB Chairperson N Manjula reviewed projects funded by the World Bank and Japan International Cooperation Agency, including STP construction, sewerage networks, and water-supply works. She ordered clear timelines for each project and emphasized prompt responses to local concerns and worker safety. The Cauvery Water Supply Scheme Stage VI, supported by JICA, has received government approval, with final loan discussions underway. Manjula instructed that all other JICA-funded works be completed by the end of December, ensuring no project is halted.
