Bengaluru sees warmer weather for Makar Sankranti due to cloud cover and cyclonic circulation
Bengaluru is experiencing warmer-than-usual weather this Makar Sankranti, with minimum temperatures rising due to cloud cover and cyclonic circulation. The city recorded a minimum of 20°C, over 4°C above the January average of 15.8°C. The India Meteorological Department forecasts partly cloudy skies, light rain, and misty mornings for the next 48 hours. Maximum temperatures are expected around 30°C, contrasting with earlier January cold waves that saw temperatures drop to 12°C. This increase in warmth is attributed to persistent cloud cover, which traps heat, and a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal. These conditions have led to warmer nights across much of Karnataka.
