Bengaluru man rescued after kidnappers demand Rs9 million

gulfnews.com —

A Bengaluru man was kidnapped after telling his family he was traveling for a day, with his father receiving photos of him tied to a chair and a Rs9 million ransom demand. Police rescued the 40-year-old victim and arrested two suspects. The man left his home in Bengaluru’s Vijayanagar area on September 30, saying he was going to Gadag and would return the next morning. Instead, his father received WhatsApp calls demanding Rs9 million and photos showing the victim bound to a chair, prompting the family to contact police. Officers traced the victim to a remote area near Belur in Karnataka’s Hassan district, about 180km from Bengaluru, and rescued him early on October 1. Police are investigating the motive and whether others were involved, with the case still under investigation.
