Belgium PM warns Europe to cut trade dependencies, citing India's earlier caution

Speaking at a CII event, De Wever said Europe faces a "rude awakening" after allowing foreign overcapacity to enter markets at below-cost prices, weakening its industrial base. He referenced a neighboring country that profited most, in an apparent swipe at China. De Wever called India Europe's number one strategic partner, citing its growth, talent pool, and democratic leadership. He urged diversified trade relationships and partnerships based on respect, while stressing that defending national interests is essential for maintaining trust in free trade.
